FO's : Mitten and Orange Cardigan

Here are the mittens i made for my Aunt. She had been looking for a pair of flip top mittens, and when i saw what was out here, few had long cuffs. I got the yarn for Silk City, its a morino wool.


TaDaa! Here is, FINALLY, the completed Sweet Potato Cardigan. It is done, done, done and warm, warm, warm.

My sweet-potato Cardigan is comming along slowly. Didn't work on it thru most of August, just too hot. It coming along very nicely. It feels great and is so warm! Winter, here i come!

I am considering a little adjustment to the neck. There is an unintended square that i really don't like. So i think i will pull off the neck and do the whole thing in seed stitch with fewer or no decreases. So it will be a little more like a cowl neck. Also i am having second thoughts on the front piece. Both cause i don't how i want to attach it yet, and I think its a little to much. The cabling on the arm nice a subtle.

I finally made it to midtown and purchased an orange jacket zipper that matches almost perfectly. And i was happy to learn you can get zippers shorten to exactly what you want. Cool!
There is a nip in the air and i am feeling the drive to get this completed.

Books, books, books...

I am still slowly working on my Sweet Potato Cardigan, and it going very well. I am working on the sleeves. I've put to rest my cabled sock, and the Green Tank top is growing at snails pace as i've found the knitting in rounds rather dull now that i've dicovered color! I work a few rows every now and then. I am sure it will be done and ready for next spring.

Mostly, i have been hunting for my next project and exploring all the color-work options out there. The public library has been an excellent start. I have taken out several knitting books, some better than others.

I've purchased some magazines, the most exciting for me being the Rowan magazine, issues 34, 38, 39 and 40.

So many wonderful things! What to do Next? What yarn do i use? What yarn do i have?? Do i have enough yarn? Whats the gauge on that one? etc. etc. Hehehehehe... the hunt for the next project, the next pattern, the next addition on the wardrobe. Will it be a hat, a cardigan, a sweater...

Oh yeah, I forgot about that...

I was in my studio looking through my yarn stash, which is ever growing. The main culprit being Silk City Fibers, which has a sale the first saturday of every month. They are a wholesale company, so their yarns are sold mostly on cones, which is alot of yarn. ^_.^

On my last visit, I purchased this wonderful bulky Merino Wool in a sweet potato orange. I decided too knit up a swatch and see what it looked like. Having just finished that cable wrist thingy, I decided to do cables and seed stitch.

I kept swatching, then was like, I have to do somethin with this. Belt?...NO, bookmark?...NO, front of a sweater/cardigan...Perhaps.

I've sketched my planned jacket and started (top down) on the shoulders and back. I love how fast bulky yarn knits up. (in complete contrast to the thin sock weights I've been working with.)
Its a manderin collar with a cable/seed stitch placket and cables on the sleeves. Seed stitch edges.
